What its about:

The media is an important partner in advocating issues as critical as population and reproductive health. The UNFPA through its Population Advocacy and Reproductive Health IEC Programme executed by the SPC recognize this important role the media plays.

The 2002 Population and Reproductive Health Media Awards is designed to reward journalists and non-government organizations in the Pacific region for their work in promoting population and reproductive health issues through the media. The first award was presented in 1999 at the 2nd Regional Media Seminar held in Nadi, Fiji.

This year, the award has been expanded to include the Media Campaign and the Photography categories. Apart from journalists, an award will also be given to an NGO who has used the media effectively to further their advocacy for population and reproductive health issues. Total prize money of FJD $5500 has been set aside for this purpose.
